Two charged in Sunday shooting

Two Vicksburg men face multiple charges in the Sunday shooting of a 19-year-old man in the 100 block of Elizabeth Circle, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

John Shelby, 25, and Curtis Ross, 20, were being held without bail at the Issaquena County Correction Facility pending an initial appearance Wednesday in Municipal Court. They are accused of shooting the man numerous times with a handgun as he was walking on Elizabeth Circle.

The victim, who has not been identified, remains in serious condition at University of Mississippi Medical Center.

β€œThe motive for the shooting remains unclear,” William said.

Shelby faces charges of attempted murder, drive-by shooting and possession of weapon by a convicted felon. Ross faces charges of attempted murder and drive-by shooting.
