2 indicted for robbery, murder

Two men accused of killing a Vicksburg man during a robbery have been indicted by the July grand jury.

The three-count indictment charges Jamarcus Marquis Cater, 18, no address given, and Leroy Lamar Stewart, 21, 404 Locust St., with conspiracy to commit a felony, armed robbery and murder in the Oct. 21, 2015, shooting death of Reginald Davis during an armed robbery in the 1400 block of Main Street.

Davis, police said, was shot in his car during the robbery and later died in the emergency room at Merit Health River Region Medical Center.

In another case, the grand jury indicted Delzione Gleese, 24, 902 Blossom Lane, and Marcus Wilson, no age or address given, on charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and attempted murder involving a March 28 case, in which a man was shot multiple times while he was standing on the corner of Second North and Bodley Street that night.

Other indictments handed down by the grand jury include:

• Ernest Lamont Hunter, 43, 621 North Poplar St.: aggravated assault — extreme indifference. The grand jury designated Hunter a habitual offender.

• Robert Kapp, 34, 4225 I-20 Frontage Road: aggravated assault — extreme indifference.

• Nicholas Rashad Clay, 20, 1107 Speed St.: aggravated assault and shooting at a motor vehicle.

• Tyler Wigley, 20, 3636 Redbone Road Lot 4: possession of a stolen firearm.

• Quatimere Simpson, 27, 130 Eastover, Apt. 2201: possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

• Shalonda Denise Williams, 37, 1213 Clay St.: forgery — counterfeit instrument.

• Willie Peoples Jr., 37, 106 Wabash Ave.: fleeing or eluding a law enforcement officer. Peoples was designated a habitual offender by the grand jury.

• Alexander Lindsey, 24, 2025 Military Ave.: Possession of a controlled substance. The grand jury enhanced the charge because a firearm was found during the arrest.

• Matthew Dill, 34, 114 Hawkins St.: non-residential burglary.

• Roosevelt Lawayne Brown, no age given, 308 Newitt Vick Drive: aggravated assault.

• Derek Bowman, 32, 128 Williams Road: 12 counts of non-residential burglary.

• Donald Jeffery Barrett, 31, 1007 Smith County Road Lot 68, Mize; Sherwood Winston Lyons, 30, 100 Big Momma Drive; and Jonathan Eugene Meadows, 372 B Parkview St.: non-residential burglary, two counts larceny-motor vehicle and conspiracy to commit a felony. Barret was also indicted for grand larceny in a separate case.

• James Jefferson Jr., 34, 1201 South St.: statutory rape, victim under age 14; sexual battery, victim under age 14.

• Colby Austin Russum, 20, 100 Thornberry Hollow Drive: two counts sexual battery age 14 to 16 years.

• Muriel Therese Holmes, 45, 902 Blossom Lane, Apt. B2: embezzlement.

• Joseph Brown, 32, 1414 First East St.: possession of a controlled substance.

• Larry Turner, 55, 820 Harris St.: sale of a controlled substance.

• Michaul Pryor, 20, 531 Tiffin Town Road: burglary of a dwelling.

• Eugene Sheppard, 23, 1235 Thomas Drive, Raymond: conspiracy to commit a felon, burglary of a dwelling.

• Jakob Ryan Prescott, 19, 35 Emfinger Drive: two charges sale of a controlled substance.

• Jeremiah Rose, 21, 113 Galtney St.: possession of a controlled substance.
