Among the Realtors and real estate brokers in Warren County, Dixie Breithaupt is one of a kind.
She was a realtor-associate member in 1971. In May 1973, she got her broker license and was one of only two women Realtors in Vicksburg at that time.
She has served in various offices with the Vicksburg-Warren Board of Realtors, at times holding more than one office.
Tuesday, her experience as a realtor and broker, and her work on the board was honored by her peers at the association’s quarterly luncheon when they recognized her as the local board’s first Realtor Emeritus, a distinction presented by the National Board of Realtors recognizing realtors with at least 40 years experience and a serving as an officer with the local, state or national association.
The title exempts the recipient from association dues, and from attending the national association’s quadrennial ethics training.
“The board, chartered by the National Association of Realtors in 1961, is proud to add to its history books an upstanding and remarkable woman such as Dixie to its first ever Emeritus status within this board,” said Jill Bishop, and association executive with the board for the last seven years.
“It’s a real honor,” Breithaupt said as she received congratulations from association members. “It feels good; it feels real great to be the first in Warren County. I never thought I would still be in real estate this long.
“But it’s been a pleasure, and I when leave here (the meeting), I get to go pickup some people moving in from Phoenix (Ariz.) to come back home.”
