St. Al swimming beats Prep in dual meet

Adrienne Eckstein won four events, and Victoria Gong and Leah Larson each won two as St. Aloysius’ girls swim team beat Jackson Prep 38-30 Thursday in a dual meet at City Pool.
Eckstein won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.74 seconds, and the 50 backstroke in 31.49 seconds. She was also part of the winning 200 freestyle and 200 medley relay teams, along with Gong, Larson and Sarah Copes.
In the boys meet, St. Al won all but one event as it routed Prep 57-7.
Charlie Martin finished first in the 50 breaststroke and 50 butterfly, Tommy Martin won the 100-yard individual medley, Connor Clark won the 50 backstroke, and Matthew Copes won the 100-yard freestyle. The same quartet also finished first in both the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays.
WC softball falls to Bogue Chitto
Bogue Chitto scored four runs in the third inning, four more in the sixth, and took advantage of eight errors by Warren Central to beat the Lady Vikes 10-2 Thursday in a slow-pitch softball game.
Sarah Kate Smith had two of Warren Central’s four hits, and also scored one of its two runs.
WC volleyball KOs Germantown
Taylor Smith served seven aces, and also had eight assists and two kills, to lead Warren Central’s girls’ volleyball team to a 3-1 (27-25, 25-20, 17-25, 25-16) win over Germantown on Thursday.
Sydney Stuart led Warren Central’s offense with 10 kills, six assists and 25 digs. Senior Nikirah Bridges had nine assists. Coretta Watts had 16 digs, two kills and 19 receptions.
