Elbert Hampton, 83, passed away Aug. 31, 2016.

He was a retired electrician for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and served in the U.S. Air Force. Born in Phoenix, Miss., he lived in Vicksburg for many years, but for the last 15 years he lived in El Dorado, Ark.

He is survived by his two sons, Michael L. Hampton of Petal and Allan Hampton of Mobile, Ala.; three sisters, Gloria Pettway of Vicksburg, Mary Chester of Vicksburg, and Faye Milo of Vallejo, Calif.; one granddaughter, Melissa Hampton of Petal; and one great-granddaughter Grace Hampton of Petal.

Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the Glenwood Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
