Clear Creek Ladies report

On Wednesday, Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association members enjoyed flight play. Carol Roberson won Flight A. Joyce Johnson was the Flight B winner, while Emily Bonelli was the Flight C winner. Johnson logged the lowest putting score. Johnson and Mary May made chip-ins.

Over the River Run

Registration is now open for the 28th annual Over the River Run, a 5-mile run, race walk and fun run on the Old Mississippi River Bridge. This year’s race is scheduled for Oct. 8 at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $25 per person, or $15 for children ages 10 and under. There is also a $75 family rate for up to five immediate family members living at the same address.

The Over the River Run benefits the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation. Entry forms are available at the SCHF office, at 1302 Adams Street, or Hobie’s Outdoor Sports. Online registration and more information is available at

Registration is open until Sept. 12 for the City of Vicksburg’s youth fall baseball league. The cost is $25 per player. Registration forms can be picked up at the Parks and Recreation Department office at 100 Army Navy Drive, and Hobie’s Sports. Coaches are also needed. For more information, call 601-634-4514.

Adult softball league

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s adult co-ed softball league will continue until Sept. 16. The cost is $175 per team, with an extra fee of $10 for each player from Warren County who lives outside the city limits and $20 for each player from Sharkey, Claiborne and Issaquena counties. Registration forms are available at the Parks and Rec office.

City tennis sessions

The City of Vicksburg’s tennis program will conduct a free youth clinic and practice sessions during the fall. Sessions are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Halls Ferry Park courts. The clinic is for children ages 5 to 18, and is free. USM baseball camps

The Southern Miss baseball program will host several camps this fall at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg.

The Fall Instructional League Camp runs from Sept. 6-22, and is for high school players. Sessions are held each Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and will consist of an instructional practice and games on Thursday nights. The cost is $225 per camper.

The Hitting Under the Lights Camp will begin Sept. 26 and run for four consecutive Mondays, from 6 to 8 p.m. This camp is also for high school players. It will focus on hitting mechanics and approach. The cost is $150 per camper.
