Archie L. Foster

Funeral service for Archie L. Foster will be Saturday, Sept. 10, in the Greater Grove M.B. Church at noon with the Rev. Joe Harris Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery with W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. There will be a visitation held Friday, Sept. 9, from noon until 6 p.m. in the chapel with family present from 5 to 6 p.m.

Deacon Archie L. Foster, a Vicksburg resident, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, in the Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., following a lengthy illness. He was 61.

He had worked as a supervisor for maintenance of the Harrah’s Casino and was a member of the New Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church where he was a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Harry P. and Aretha B. Foster; and host brothers, Harry P. Foster Jr. and the Rev. Thomas Foster Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Foster of Vicksburg; his two sons, John M. Foster and Alexander L. Foster, both of Vicksburg; his four daughters, Wanda L. Bell, Jacqueline B. Foster, Katina L. Foster and Denesha L. James, all of Vicksburg; his five brothers, Rueben Foster, Odell Foster and James Foster, all of Vicksburg, Riley Watson of Bay St. Louis and Robert Foster of Oakland, Calif.; his three sisters, Betty Pendleton, Irene Foster and Aretha Gaskin, all of Vicksburg; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and others.
