Rosa Marcia Hays Braxton died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Sharkey-Issaquena Community Hospital in Rolling Fork.  She was 91.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Valley Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Purser, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.

Mrs. Rosa, or “Mrs. B.,” as she was often called, was born May 1, 1925, in Coxburg to Robert Lee Hays and Emma Taylor Hays.

She and her husband Lee raised their children on their farm in Valley Park. Mrs. Rosa worked very hard alongside her husband and produced a garden for many years and had a yard of beautiful flowers that she loved arranging for displays in the church.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  Rosa was a member of Valley Park Baptist Church for many years. She taught pre-school for many years, and many of the children who lived in Valley Park were taught by Mrs. B.  She also taught G.A.s, was a member of the WMU, Valley Park Home Demonstration Club, and was the church librarian.

Mrs. Rosa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Franklin Braxton; great-granddaughter, Crystal Braxton; brother, Murray Hays; sister, Janie Stuart.

She is survived by her four children, Jimmy Braxton (Jeane), Bobby Braxton (Mary), Hope Braxton Porter (Clifton), and Lynn Braxton (Pat); 16 grandchildren, Suzette Braxton Garceau (Russ), Lisa Porter Scott (Randy), Jimmy Lee Braxton, Bert Braxton, Leslie Porter Chisholm (Wayne), Robbie Braxton (Melinda), Lara Porter Hill (Tri), Tracy Braxton and Rhonda Braxton, Brooks Trisler, Cade Trisler (Dejune), Roger Trisler, John Moss Christian (Mary Jean), Autumn Grey (Charlie), April Harris (Bill), Stephen Christian (Becki); five siblings, Bill Hays (Helen), Madeline Hays Dove, Harold Hays (Maggie), Wilma Hays Davenport, and Robert “Buddy” Hays; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in law and cousins.

The family would like to thank Dr. Lee Giffin, Dr. Michael Baker and Dr. Tom Mitchell for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Rosa through the years. Also, much appreciation goes to the nurses and staff at Rolling Fork Community Hospital, Merit Health River Region Medical Center and the late Dr. Preston Herring,  and Robin, C.C., Kim, and others at St. Joseph Hospice Care.

Our gratitude also goes to Kiely and the staff of Gentiva Home Health of Vicksburg, Tracy Hogan, and so many others that have cared for her through the years.

Pallbearers will be Randy Scott, Robbie Braxton, Wayne Chisholm, Tri Hill, Roger Trisler, John Carr, Russ Garceau, Cade Trisler. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Porter, Billy Whitten, Larry Whitten, Ted Porter, Kenneth Tatum, Jimmy Newman, David Wansley, Greg Barwick, Homer Luckett, Dr. Lee Giffin, Rufus Barnette, Tracy Braxton and Tim Barnette.
