Funeral services for Robert Alonzo “Hot Rod” Higgins will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2018, at New Zion M. B. Church with the Rev. Joseph Briscoe officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m.

Mr. Higgins, of Vicksburg, died Thursday, Sept. 8, at Promise Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 66. He had worked for Ford Motor Company and was a member of the New Zion M. B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Conway and Mattie Mae Lewis Higgins Sr.; his brother, Clarence Conway Higgins Jr.; and his sister, Robert Willis.

He is survived by his daughter, Yolanda Banks of Vicksburg; his three brothers Carl Young of Illinois, Albert Howard of California, and Louis Howard of Vicksburg; his three sisters, Mary Vanarsdale of Waterloo, Iowa, Betty Higgins and Diane Marshall, both of Vicksburg; and a stepsister, Peggy Funches of California.
