The Lady Vikes sent 13 batters to the plate and batted around before recording an out. Caldwell’s home run was the sixth extra base hit in the inning, and made it 10-0.

Warren Central scored at least nine runs for the 10th time in 11 games. It will play at crosstown rival Vicksburg High Tuesday at 6:15 p.m.

WC volleyball tops Greenville

Warren Central’s volleyball team continued on its course for the playoffs on Thursday by beating Greenville 3-0 (25-8, 25-14, 25-5).

Taylor Smith served 15 aces, and as a team the Lady Vikes had 28. Smith also had five kills and four assists.

Sydney Stuart added nine kills, and Brittnee Craft had four kills.

“We ran our offense really efficiently,” Warren Central coach Matt Gullett said. “Because we were running it efficiently, (Greenville) knew they couldn’t put it right back over because it was coming back at them, and we were cranking it.”

With the win, Warren Central improved its record to 9-7 overall, and 3-2 in Region 4-III. It can clinch a playoff berth for the second consecutive season by beating Callaway on the road next Thursday.

WC will also play at crosstown rival Vicksburg Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
