HOW THEY DID

A look at how players from Vicksburg-area high schools did in college and NFL football games over the weekend:

• Delta State cornerback Devontae Wilson (Warren Central) had three solo tackles and two assists in a 34-24 loss to West Georgia.

• Ole Miss offensive lineman Talbot Buys (Porters Chapel Academy) saw playing time in a 48-43 loss to No. 1 Alabama.

• Alcorn State wide receiver Tavares Johnson Jr. (Vicksburg High) returned four kickoffs for a total of 89 yards in a 45-43 triple-overtime loss to Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

• Grambling linebacker DeArius Christmas (Warren Central) had a team-high 10 total tackles — six solos and four assists — in a 35-14 win over Jackson State.

• Belhaven offensive lineman Steve Cooper (Vicksburg) started at left guard in a 65-21 loss to Huntingdon College. Linebacker Denarrius Noel (Hinds AHS) had nine total tackles for Belhaven.

• Cornell College (Iowa) running back Patrick Brown (Vicksburg) caught a team-high seven passes for 42 yards, and also rushed five times for 17 yards, in a 55-13 loss to Lake Forest College.

• New England Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler (Vicksburg) had a team-high seven solo tackles, one assist, and one pass defense in a 31-24 win over the Miami Dolphins.
