Hannah Embry was both a workhorse and nearly perfect Saturday at the MAIS Class AA South State softball tournament.

Embry pitched two no-hitters and four games in all as Porters Chapel Academy won three times to advance to day two of the tournament at Amite School Center.

Embry pitched a total of 20 innings. She threw no-hitters in 12-0 and 15-0 wins over Prentiss Christian, and a one-hitter in an 11-1 victory over Union Christian. She walked a total of three batters in the three wins, and struck out 12.

Embry also went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBIs in the win over Union Christian. In the first game against Prentiss Christian, the Lady Eagles scored 10 runs in the first inning.

PCA’s lone loss of the day came against Glenbrook, 6-3. It sent the Lady Eagles into the losers’ bracket, but they beat Union Christian and Prentiss for the second time to survive until Monday’s loser’s bracket semifinals.

PCA will face either Tallulah Academy or Clinton Christian Monday at 1 p.m. The winner will go on to play at 3 p.m. in the losers’ bracket championship game for a spot in the Class AA state tournament.
