Iris Corona Holman Allison

Iris Corona Holman Allison passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at Heritage House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  She was 85.

She was the daughter of the late James Melvin and Musa Leona Curran Holman.

Iris was a 1949 graduate of Carr Central High School. She was a member of the Carr Central Lady 49ers group who met and socialized through the years. Iris attended All Saints College. She joined the Rebekahs in 1949.

She married Jimmy Allison in June of 1950.  Iris was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was employed at the Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic, and was a tour guide for McRaven House and volunteered as a pink lady with Merit Health River Region Medical Center.

Iris enjoyed playing canasta, reading and music. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Allison; two sons, Jim Allison and Hyrm Allison; and son-in-law, John Thomason.

She is survived by one daughter, LaDonna A. Thomason of Vicksburg; grandchildren, Shannon T. Emerson, John (Brittany) Thomason, James “Trey” Allison and David “Wes” Allison, all of Vicksburg; great-grandchildren, Morgan Emerson, Megan Emerson, Kynsleigh Thomason and Kohlson Thomason, all of Vicksburg; two brothers, Richard M. (Judy) Holman of Amory and Winston E. (Mary) Holman of Vicksburg; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with Bro. Mickey Bounds officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Sam Pierce and Medical Associates, St. Joseph Hospice and the staff at Heritage House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care.
