WC JV cross country
Warren Central’s Brandon Gilliam finished seventh overall out of 111 runners, and the Vikings were third in the team standings at the Mid-South Middle School Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The meet included eight teams and was the season finale for Mississippi’s middle school teams.

Pearl and Northwest Rankin tied for the team championship with 39 points each, and Warren Central totaled 98. St. Andrew’s was fourth with 101 points.

For Warren Central, Samuel Terrett finished 15th, Zac Boyd was 21st, Adan Byrd 23rd, and Bo Broome 50th.

WC Softball Spooktacular
The third annual Warren Central Spooktacular softball game is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. at Lucy Young Field. Warren Central softball and baseball players will play a slow-pitch softball game in Halloween costumes, and candy will be given away to the children in attendance. Admission is $5, and all proceeds will benefit Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital.

VHS track tryouts
Tryouts for Vicksburg High’s varsity boys and girls track teams will be held Nov. 9 and 10, immediately after school at Memorial Stadium. Sign up sheets will be posted in Vicksburg High School. All athletes must have proper clothing for the tryouts, tennis shoes and a current physical.

Hinds Monster Mash

The fifth annual Monster Mash at Moss, a charity softball game featuring Hinds Community College softball and baseball players, will be played Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. at Joe G. Moss baseball field on the Hinds Community College campus in Raymond. Players will wear Halloween costumes during the game. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for Hinds students, and free for children 12 and under.
All proceeds benefit Children’s Hospital of Mississippi, and additional donations are welcome.

MSHOF World Series party
The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum will host a World Series party on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 5:30 p.m. at the MSHOF building on Lakeland Drive in Jackson. Tickets are $50 and must be purchased in advance at the Museum office or online at msfame.com.

The price of the ticket includes dinner, as well as a panel discussion and meet and greet with former major leaguers Jay Powell, Jeff Brantley, Chris Maloney, Chad Bradford, Joe Gibbon, Barry Lyons and Jake Gibbs. After the discussion, all of the television screens in the Museum will be tuned to Game 1 of the World Series.
