Lealia McBroom Shingler

Lealia McBroom Shingler died at her home Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016. She was 96.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, she was formerly employed for a number of years at Kuhn Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.

Lealia was preceded in death by her husband, Percy T. Shingler Sr.; her daughter, Martha Redding; her son, Roy Dell Shingler; her grandson, Tommy Redding; one brother and three sisters.

Survivors include her sons, Ronald Shingler of Vicksburg and Charles Shingler of West Monroe, La.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Ritchie officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Church of Christ Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be James Miles, Martin Benham, Zack Benham, Paul Conerly, Greg Hearn and Cody Hearn. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Walter Johnston, Billy Patterson, Tracy Penley and the staff of Compassus Hospice.
