Local residents and business owners Dec. 6 will have the opportunity to learn the steps of doing business with the state and U.S. Veterans Administration during a small business contracting seminar sponsored by the Mississippi Development Authority.
The seminar is the second involving information on becoming a government contractor held in Vicksburg this year.
The MDA and the Mississippi Procurement Technical Assistance Program, held a three-hour small business contracting seminar in April at the Vicksburg Convention Center to teach people how to apply for and secure government contracts.
“This is another opportunity for us to educate the public how important it is to have all your information in order in order to get these contracts,” Mayor George Flaggs Jr. said. “It’s another means to educate the public on how to do business and what you need to do business with the government.”
The seminar, which is joint effort by MDA and the Veterans Administration, will run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Vicksburg Convention Center and examine topics such as doing business with the Veterans Administration, how to be certified to be a contractor with the Veterans Administration, how to be certified by the State of Mississippi to bid on state contracts, and how to secure government contracts.
