Man arrested for police assault

A Vicksburg man accused of harming two police officers in their patrol car was held without bail Friday.
Michael Scott, 25, was arrested at 10 a.m. Thursday and charged with assaulting two police officers that responded to a call, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
Scott was arrested for the Oct. 18 incident where he collided head-on with a patrol car with two officers inside pushing the vehicle into oncoming traffic, Williams said. He rammed the police car several times on the driver’s side, before attempting to leave and crashed into a utility pole at the corner of Hayes and Clay streets by Vicksburg Catholic Schools.
After the incident, Scott was admitted in the hospital and was later arrested after his release. Scott went for his initial appearance in court Thursday and bail was set at $200,000.
Man released from hospital, arrested for burglary
A Vicksburg man accused of stealing from a vehicle was held without bail Friday.
Donald Lawrence, 19, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of auto burglary, Williams said.
Lawrence was arrested for the Oct. 29 incident where he was looking in a vehicle parked on the 3200 block of Drummond Street and subsequently shot. Officers searching the area located the scene Lawrence described, and the homeowner said he shot a man who was burglarizing his vehicle.
Lawrence was taken by a private vehicle to Merit Health River Region Medical Center and later airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for further treatment. After his release from the hospital, Lawrence was arrested, charged and had his initial court appearance where bail was set at $5,000, William said.
Robbery suspect arrested an hour after crime
A Vicksburg man accused of robbing someone was held without bail Friday.
Willie Odoms, 21, was arrested at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday on the 1200 block of Cherry Street and charged with robbery, Williams said.
Odoms is accused of robbing a man of a small amount of cash at 9 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Clay and Cherry streets. Based on a description and video surveillance footage, investigators were able to identify Odoms as the suspect and arrested him an hour later when he entered a nearby store, Williams said. The weapon used in the robbery was found in Odoms’ possession.
