An 80-year-old Vicksburg man faces a charge of aggravated assault after his arrest Sunday in the 2300 block of Washington Street.
Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said Carl Pace was being held without bail in the Warren County Jail pending an initial appearance in Municipal Court.
He is accused of using a shotgun with birdshot and shooting and wounding two men as they walked past his house Sunday. One man was wounded in the lower back, while the other was hit in the leg. The men, who were not identified, were treated and released from Merit Health River Region Medical Center.
Williams said the motive for the shooting is under investigation, adding, “We do not have evidence either man was committing a crime.”
In another case, Eugene Ross of Vicksburg was wounded Sunday in the Kings Community by what police believe was an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to Merit Health River Region Medical Center. Information on his condition was unavailable.
