Martha A. ‘Sissy’ Washington-White

Martha A. Washington-White “Sissy” passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 65.
She was the daughter of the late Steve Washington, the late Mabel Reed Washington and the late Geneva Lewis. Martha was a member of the Greater Rose Hill M.B. Church, where she served on the mother board, Sunday school teacher, food committee and a member of the sanctuary choir.
Martha graduated from Rosa A. Temple High School in 1969.
Martha was a licensed caterer for many years until her illness. She worked as a dietary manager at Shady Lawn Nursing Home for over 31 years. She was also a cook at God Little Angels Daycare.
In addition to her parents, Martha was predeceased by one sister and three brothers.
She is survived by her loving devoted husband of 32 years, Leonard White Jr., of Vicksburg; two sons, Arone (Candace) Washington of Hattiesburg and Leonard (Mandy) White III of Brandon; two stepdaughters, Kathy (Michael) White Williams of Austin, Texas; Marilyn Appleton of Freeport, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Bianka Dumas, Christopher Washington, D’Shaira and D’Aryus Ward and Melanie Marie White; six sisters and seven brothers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including Virginia Miller, Cynthia Hall, Carolyn Polk and the Washington, White, Reed, and Freeman families.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at the Greater Rose Hill M.B. Church in Vicksburg. Burial will follow at Mount Alban Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home from 1 to 7 p.m. with family hour from 6 to 7 p.m .
