Thanksgiving Day edition to be sold early

For the third year in a row, The Vicksburg Post will sell the Thanksgiving Day edition early, allowing those planning their Black Friday shopping sprees a little more time for planning.
The Thursday edition, which will weight almost two pounds and include sales information from more than a dozen retailers, will be sold at The Vicksburg Post office beginning at 8 p.m.
Over the past two years, hundreds have taken advantage of the early sale.
“It’s really fun for us to meet everyone who comes by Wednesday night,” Post publisher Tim Reeves said. “It has become one of the more fun evenings of the year as we get to meet everyone.”
One of the reasons why The Post began selling the edition early is some retailers who sell The Post are closed Thursday, he said.
This year’s Thanksgiving edition includes advertising specials from retailers throughout the Vicksburg area, and also includes the popular “How To Cook a Turkey” section.
“If you need the latest and greatest recipe on the perfect turkey, this is probably not the best resource,” Reeves said. “We had hundreds of third grade students from schools throughout the county to submit what they think goes into cooking a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. While many of them are funny, most would not pass many health codes.”
If you are unable to get your copy of the Thanksgiving Day edition early, or on Thursday due to your favorite outlet being closed, the editions will also be available for sale Friday at The Vicksburg Post office. The Vicksburg Post is located at 1601-F North Frontage Road. For more information, call 601-636-4545.
