Deputy Vicksburg police chief Bobby Stewart said the wreck occurred when Lebert Isbell, 84, was traveling south on U.S. 61 South and attempted to turn left onto Pemberton Square, when his 2013 Chevrolet Silverado collided with a northbound 2001 Dodge Stratus driven by Beverly Slater.

Both were taken by ambulance to Merit Health River Region, and Slater was later transferred to UMMC. Isbell was treated at River Region. Information on his condition or whether he was released was unavailable.

The wreck remains under investigation, Stewart said.
