Susie Noble Shaw

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Susie Noble Shaw passed from this life Thursday, Dec. 29, at her home in Martinsburg, W.Va.

She was born July 21, 1944 in Vicksburg. She was the daughter of Melvin and Thelma Noble.

She is survived by her husband, Ken; her son, Jack; daughter-in-law, Stacey; granddaughters, Corinne and Amelia; goddaughter, Megan Hudson; and best friend, Joy White and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jane Brown.

Susie was a beloved teacher for over 40 years in Virginia, Kentucky, and West Virginia.  She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in education from Mississippi State University in 1966, and was a proud member of the Famous Maroon Band, playing clarinet and oboe. Later, she received a master’s degree in Education from Virginia Tech.

Susie had many passions in life; foremost her granddaughters and animals.  She was also a Master Gardner and seamstress and took up quilting over the past few years of her life.  She was a frequent volunteer at St. Joseph School in Martinsburg, W.Va., and occasionally assisted at Briggs Animal Adoption Shelter in Charles Town.

A memorial for Susie is being planned in Blacksburg, Va., Jan. 28 and 29. Please contact the family for details.
