A June 5 trial date has been set for a Vicksburg man accused of failing to pay part of his child support.

Robert Eugene Burton, 49, was arrested Wednesday by investigators with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Public Integrity Division with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, according to information from the Attorney General’s Office. He has been released on $2,500 bond.

The trial date was set during Burton’s arraignment Thursday before Judge Isadore Patrick in Warren County Circuit Court. His case will be prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorney General Kimberly Purdie of the Attorney General’s Child Desertion Unit.

A Warren County grand jury indicted Burton in November of one count of non-support of a child under the age of 18. Information on the amount of the back child support Burton owes was not available.

If convicted of non-support of a child, Burton faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $500 fine.
