Gertye Faye Russum

PORT GIBSON — Gertye Faye Russum passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at University of Mississippi Medical Center. She was 87.

Born Feb. 9, 1929, to Warren Wroten and Agnes Davis, she lived most of her life in Port Gibson.

She was the oldest member of Port Gibson Baptist Church.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Mama Gert was full of grace, love, warmth and generosity. Her love for her family was evident to everyone who knew her.

Everybody has gifts, and she had many. She had the ability to make every occasion and encounter, no matter how small or trivial, special. She showed everyone what love looks like. Simply put, she was PERFECT.

She is survived by a son, Tommy Russum; daughters, Linda Strong (Jeff) and Judy Harbour (Jody); and five grandchildren, Jeff Mac Strong (Kimberly), Blake Strong, Lexie Agan (Payton), Lee Harbour and Chandler Harbour.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Wintergreen Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Mac Strong, Blake Strong, Lee Harbour, Chandler Harbour, and Payton Agan.

Memorials may be made to Port Gibson Baptist Church.
