Funeral services for Samuel Andrew Walton will be held Saturday, Jan. 21 at Greater Grove Street M. B. Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Virdel Lewis officiating; interment shall follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

There will be a visitation hour Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the chapel.

Samuel A. “Mule Man” Walton passed away on Friday, Jan.13 at The Bluffs Nursing and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness.

He was 73.

He had worked as a funeral director assistant at W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Eva Hall Walton Sr.; and his brother, Albert Walton Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Walton of Vicksburg; his two sons, Kenneth Lee Walton and Korey Lamar Walton, both of Vicksburg; his daughter, Kayla Lanae Walton of Vicksburg; his brothers, Robert Walton of Vicksburg, and James Walton and Sterling Walton, both of Albion, Mich.; his five sisters, Patricia Wiggins and Mary Helen Motley, both of Albion, Mich., and Mary Ann Murphy, Cary Cruthirds and Bertha Cruthirds, all of Vicksburg; one grandchild; and two great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and others.
