Charles Ellis “Captain” Lewis Sr. died Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at the V.A. Medical Center in Jackson. He was 76 years old.

Mr. Lewis was a lifelong resident of Utica. He was retired from construction. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Lewis of Utica; children, Chuck Lewis Jr. (Polly Anna) of Vicksburg, Keith Lewis (Jamie) of Vicksburg, Michael Byrd (Stephanie) of Brandon and Christy Sturgeon (Hiram) of Terry; brothers Bobby R. Lewis of Utica and William Joseph “Bill” Lewis of Raymond; and sister Dianne Hutchins of Utica.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, from 10 a.m. to noon at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica with services at noon at Utica United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul McDonald officiating. Pallbearers will be Duke Lewis, Michael Lewis, Mark Mitchell, Tommy Taylor, Guy Barnett and Scott Curtis.
