UTICA — Robert Harold Miller died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at his residence in the Cayuga community. He was 77.
He was a native of Harlan, Iowa, and married Geri Greco Miller in Tuscaloosa, Ala., in 1959. He returned to Harlan, where he was employed at Jacob Tool until he moved with his family to Memphis, Tenn., in 1963.
In 1965 he transferred to Little Rock, Ark., and later moved to Jackson in 1969, where he remained until his retirement from Deutsche Bank and moving to his farm near Utica. He remained active on the farm, raising cattle, and selling hay until these last few years when he leased his property.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing, landscaping and gardening. He enjoyed a host of friends and his involvement in the Utica community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Leonarda Miller; his infant son, Terry Miller; and his sister, Alice Erickson.
Survivors include his daughter and her fiancé, Tami Skinner and Dennis Calvert of Steele, Ala.; his son, Tyler Miller of Brandon; the mother of his children, Geri Miller; his sister and her husband Janice Stowe and Donald of Harlan, Iowa; his longtime companion; Janet P. Holmes of Utica; and two grandchildren, Anna Skinner and Alyssa Skinner of Steele, Ala.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at the Hinds Independent Methodist Church with the Rev. Chris Lohrstorfer and the Rev. Marvin Curtis officiating. Interment will follow in the Cayuga Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Saums, Robert Saums, Brian Hails, Caleb Fields, Corey Fields and Buddy Kerr.
