St. Aloysius had a perfect start to the 2017 high school baseball season.

The Flashes scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning, and three pitchers combined on a shutout as they beat the Jackson Victors 13-3 Tuesday in their season opener at Bazinsky Field.

Tyler Breithaupt and Thomas Phillips both had doubles to power the offense. Breithaupt also pitched one inning and struck out two batters.

Garrett Breithaupt started on the mound, pitched four innings and struck out three. Landon Middleton worked the fifth and sixth innings and had three strikeouts.

Middleton and Garrett Breithaupt also had one hit apiece at the plate.

“We came out and played well. It’s good to get that first one behind us and have something to use as a measuring point,” St. Al coach Sid Naron said.

St. Al will return to action Saturday, when it travels to face Greenville-St. Joseph. Its next home game is Feb. 21, when it plays Briarfield Academy in a doubleheader at Bazinsky Field.
