Gloria Ford Sims

Gloria Ford Sims died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at her home in Eagle Lake. She was 63.

A native of Laurel, she lived a number of years in Biloxi before attending Mississippi College and later graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi, where she received her master’s degree in teaching.

Moving to Vicksburg led her to teach in multiple schools in Warren County.  She was formerly assistant principal and later became principal of the Vicksburg Alternative School.

Currently, she was employed with her husband, Donnie, at Mercury Marine.

She was very faithful to Donnie and her family, and loved fishing at Eagle Lake and Talladega.

She attended the Eagle Lake United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Donnie Sims of Eagle Lake; her son, Alex Sims of Vicksburg; her sister, Kathy Stinson of Ocean Springs; her sister-in-law, Linda Sims of Vicksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Bridget Stinson and James Stinson.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Troy Piccaluge officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday until the hour of the service.

Memorials may be made to the charity of you choice.

Glenwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
