Funeral services for Willye Louise Porter will be Saturday, Feb. 25, at House of Peace Worship Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lester Lacey officiating.
Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 24, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Chapel.
Mrs. Porter passed away Friday, Feb. 17, surrounded by family following a brief illness. She was 77.
She had worked as a cafeteria worker and was a member of the Mount Zion M.B. Church No. 4, where she also served as an usher and was also active in the Willing Worker Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Matilda Ree Wilson Davis; her husband, Freddie B. Porter Sr.; her brothers, Frank Davis Jr. and James Davis Sr.; and a sister, Frankie Williams.
She is survived by her five sons, Freddie B. Porter Jr., Ronny L. Porter Sr., Larry D. Porter Sr. and Preston K. Porter Sr., all of Vicksburg, and Kenneth E. Porter Sr. of Chicago; her daughter, Sharon G. Porter-Owens of League City, Texas; her two brothers, Lamar Davis Sr. and Leon Davis, both of Vicksburg; her eight sisters, Bernice Davis of Los Angeles, Geraldine Wilcher of Crystal Springs, Gleneva Porter of Michigan, Mary McClain of Michigan, Doretha Davis of Vicksburg, Ollie Davis-Thigpen of Jackson, Annie Davis of Jackson and Rosemary Alforque of Los Angeles; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and others.
