Justin Henry Baseball Camp

The Fifth Annual Justin Henry Baseball Camp is scheduled for Saturday, March 4, at Halls Ferry Park.
The camp will have two sessions. The first is for children ages 4 and 5, costs $25, and will run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The second session is for children in kindergarten through seventh grade, costs $55, and will run from 1 to 4 p.m.

On-site registration is available, but early sign-up is encouraged. Parents can register their children online through the Vicksburg Warren Athletic Association’s web site at sports.bluesombrero.com/vwaabaseball, or at Vicksburg Family Development at 1205 Monroe Street. The camp is a fundraiser for Vicksburg Family Development.

Run Thru History

Registration is now open for the 38th annual Run Thru History, a 10-kilometer run, 5-kilometer race walk and 1-mile fun run in the Vicksburg National Military Park. The race will take place on March 4, beginning at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $25 for the 10K and 5K, and the 1-mile fun run is free.

Clear Creek Ladies report

The Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association will host its first 2017 Retirees Scramble on Wednesday, March 1. Players must be retired or at least 50 years old. Men and women are wlecome to play, and may sign up at the Clear Creek clubhouse or by calling 601-638-9395 and requesting registration. Retirees Scrambles are held on the first Wednesday of each month, and tee time is 8:30 a.m.

Lifeguard class

The Purks YMCA will host an American Red Cross lifeguarding class March 27 to April 7. The 30-hour class will meet from 6 to 8:45 p.m. each weeknight for two weeks.

People taking the class must be at least 15 years old or turning 15 no later than April 7, 2017. Candidates must also pass a strength and endurance test prior to the class, which includes a 300-yard swim and other timed drills.

Polk at PCA fundraiser

Former Mississippi State baseball coach Ron Polk will be the featured speaker at a fundraiser for Porters Chapel Academy on Feb. 27.

The banquet will begin at 6 p.m., and will be held at PCA’s gym. Tickets are $30, and are available at the Porters Chapel Academy office, at 3460 Porters Chapel Road, during business hours.
