Justin Henry Baseball Camp

The Fifth Annual Justin Henry Baseball Camp is scheduled for Saturday, March 4, at Halls Ferry Park.
The camp will have two sessions. The first is for children ages 4 and 5, costs $25, and will run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The second session is for children in kindergarten through seventh grade, costs $55, and will run from 1 to 4 p.m.

On-site registration is available, but early sign-up is encouraged. Parents can register their children online through the Vicksburg Warren Athletic Association’s web site at sports.bluesombrero.com/vwaabaseball, or at Vicksburg Family Development at 1205 Monroe Street. The camp is a fundraiser for Vicksburg Family Development.

Run Thru History

Registration is open for the 38th annual Run Thru History, a 10-kilometer run, 5-kilomter race walk and 1-mile fun run in the Vicksburg National Military Park. The race will take place Saturday at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $30 for the 10K and 5K, and the 1-mile fun run is free.

Registration forms are also available at the Purks YMCA. Late registration will be available at the Hampton Inn, 3330 Clay Street, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and in the Military Park from 7 to 7:50 a.m. Saturday before the race.

Packet pick-up for pre-registered runners and walkers is also open at the Hampton Inn Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Lifeguard class

The Purks YMCA will host an American Red Cross lifeguarding class March 27 to April 7. The 30-hour class will meet from 6 to 8:45 p.m. each weeknight for two weeks.

People taking the class must be at least 15 years old or turning 15 no later than April 7, 2017. Candidates must also pass a strength and endurance test prior to the class, which includes a 300-yard swim and other timed drills.

The cost of the course is $150 for YMCA members and $175 for non-members. The course will be taught by veteran American Red Cross instructors Susan and Bob Athow, and Sylvia Gurtowski.

Zeke West bass tournament
The Ninth Annual Zeke West Memorial Scholarship bass fishing ournament is scheduled for Saturday at Lake Bruin.

The registration fee is $100 per boat, with an optional big bass entry fee of $10 per person. Entry forms aare available by emailing zwestbass@gmail.
