Around 4:20 p.m. Friday, Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to Mississippi 3 near the International Paper Mill in Warren County to an accident involving two log trucks.
One log truck was traveling southbound on Mississippi 3, and the other log truck was traveling northbound when the northbound log truck crossed into the southbound lane and hit head on with the southbound log truck.
After impact, the northbound log truck became engulfed in flames and the southbound log truck overturned in the roadway spilling its load of logs.
The driver of the burning 18-wheeler was ejected and was airlifted to UMMC. The other driver complained of pain but was not transported to the hospital.
Mechanical steering problems may have played a factor in the crash of the northbound log truck according to Mississippi Highway Patrol. The accident is an on going investigation.Â
