Clear Creek Ladies report

On Wednesday the Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association enjoyed a scramble game. Top honors went to the team of Lynne Brush, Connie Kegerreis, Laura Lee and Martha Masterson. Second place went to Joyce Johnson, Dinah Lazor and Linda McHann. Charlotte Crist, Mary May, Carol Roberson and Cheri Williams placed third.

Paws Rescue golf tourney

Paws Rescue’s “Golf 4 Paws” charity golf tournament will be held April 21 at 9 a.m. at Clear Creek Golf Course in Bovina. The tournament is a four-person scramble, and the entry fee is $70 per person or $280 per team.

All proceeds will go toward rescue expenses for the animals in the care of Paws Rescue. Donations of cash, cat food and dog food are welcome.

Bluz Cruz registration

Registration is open for the 2017 Bluz Cruz kayak and canoe race. The 22-mile race on the Mississippi River is scheduled for April 8, and will begin at 9 a.m. at the Madison Parish Port. Shuttle service will be available to the port from the former Grand Station Casino parking lot in downtown Vicksburg. In addition, a mandatory safety meeting will be held prior to the race at 8:30 a.m. Boat portage services are not available.

The entry fee is $60, plus an addition $5 event membership for racers who are not members of the American Canoe Association. To register, visit bluzcruz.com

VHS basketball tryouts

Tryouts for Vicksburg High School’s varsity and ninth-grade girls basketball team are scheduled for April 11-13, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the VHS gym. Players must attend all three days of tryouts and have a current physical and physical form; completed residency and concussion forms; a parental consent form; and proper workout attire. Bubba Mims golf tournament

Porters Chapel Academy will host the 13th annual Bubba Mims Memorial Golf Classic April 26 at Vicksburg Country Club. The event is a four-man scramble and will begin with lunch at 11 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Adult softball registration

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s adult men’s and women’s adult softball leagues will continue through April 17. Registration packets can be picked up at the Parks and Recreation offices at 100 Army-Navy Drive.
The registration fee is $175 per team, with a $10 fee for Warren County residents and a $20 fee for players from Sharkey, Issaquena, Claiborne, and Hinds counties.

A mandatory coaches meeting will be held April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Parks and Rec office. For more information, call 601-634-4514.
