The 2017 commencement ceremonies for Vicksburg High School and Warren Central High School will be held at the school’s respective football stadiums this year.

Vicksburg will hold its ceremony on May 25, at 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. Warren Central will hold its ceremony May 26, at 7 p.m. at Viking Stadium.

The ceremonies will have open seating and feature speeches from the classes’ valedictorians.

Both ceremonies returned to their outside venues last year after being moved to the Vicksburg Convention Center at the last minute in 2015 due to inclement weather. The move forced the Vicksburg Warren School District to hold both ceremonies on the same day and change the date of Warren Central’s ceremonies.

“Both of the schools have decided that if there is inclement weather, they will have them in their auditorium,” VWSD communication director Christy Killroy said.

If the ceremonies have to be moved inside, it would force admission to be limited to a small number of tickets.

The exact number of tickets that each student would be limited to in the event of inclement weather is not known as this time according to Killroy.
