Charie Miller Smith

Charie Miller Smith (Nee Ott), devoted wife and loving mother, accepted her victory in Jesus Christ May 9, 2017, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 70.

She fought her battle in the same manner in which she lived her life, with no loss of hope or withholding of affection. She was a graduate of Meridian High School and Mississippi State University (B.A.). Her life was devoted to God and her family. She taught math and tutored numerous students at several Christian schools in Vicksburg.

She taught community Bible school for many years and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Vicksburg.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis R. Smith; sons, Spenser D. Smith of Indianapolis and Dean Andrew (Jennifer) Smith of Georgetown, Ky.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Eddie (Belinda) Ott of Meridian and James Ott of Mendenhall; one sister, Elizabeth Bennett of Olive Branch; and one niece, Angela Bennett.

She is preceded in death by her parents, W. E. (Dub) Ott and Ruth Elizabeth Ott (Nee Miller).

Graveside services will be Saturday, May 13, at Magnolia Memorial Gardens in Meridian, at 1:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Larry Townsend, Leonard Scardino, John Smith, Gerald Townsend and Paul Raley. May light perpetual shine upon her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Vicksburg.
