Vicksburg police investigators Thursday arrested two men on warrants involving separate and unrelated offenses, Capt. Sandra Williams said.
Jonathan Williams, 24, was arrested about 3 p.m. at the Madison Glenn Apartments on Hope Street on a warrant from Alachua County, Fla., charging him with probation violation. About 30 minutes later, Roderick Williams, 27, no relation, was arrested at his home on a Vicksburg Police warrant charging him with aggravated assault.
Williams said investigators served the warrants after receiving the warrant for Jonathan Williams, which accuses him of violating his pre-trial release on a sexual assault charge. He violated the conditions of his release by allowing his GPS monitor to lose its charge. According to the warrant, a bond was set in Florida at $500,000.
He appeared in Vicksburg Municipal Court before Judge Toni Terrett and signed a waiver of extradition.
He is being held in the Issaquena Correctional Facility awaiting extradition to Florida.
Roderick Williams and three juveniles are accused of assaulting Lawrence Blackmore with a pair of brass knuckles.
Blackmore sustained a broken nose and was treated and released from Merit Health River Region. Roderick Williams is also wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections for probation violation. He is being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
