Mynetta Alicia Mace Smith

JACKSON — Mynetta Alicia Mace Smith was born Nov. 22, 1928, in Learned, and passed Aug. 22  in Jackson. She attended secondary school at Southern Christian Institute (SCI), in Edwards and graduated from Jarvis Christian College, Hawkins, Texas, with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education.

Mynetta worked as teacher at SCI, Hinds County and Clinton Public Schools for 35 years, retiring in 1990.

Mynetta was an active member of Lane Chapel C.M.E. Church, where she served until her health declined.

Mynetta was preceded in death by her husband, Marcellus, and grandson, Adrian Marcel Davis. Cherishing her memories are: her daughter, Brenda Jo Davis of Jackson; sons, Ronnie (Giselle) of Raleigh, N.C., and Dennis (Desiree) of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren, Nikolas Adam Smith and Lauren Nikole Berry (J. T.), Benny, Jeremy, and Jalen Smith; great grandsons, Troy III and Jetson Berry; and other relatives and friends.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at Lakeover Funeral Home, 1525 Beasley Rd. Jackson, MS 39206. Visitation is Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at Lakeover from 1-7 p.m. (family present 6-7 p.m.).
