What a wonderful place we are blessed to call our community.

When the word went out this past week that Randy Naylor Jr., and his wife Tonya, were seeking support from the Vicksburg community to assist the victims of Hurricane Harvey in the Houston area, organizations and individuals did not hesitate to step up and lend a hand.

More than a dozen people from various backgrounds and agencies attended a hastily called meeting at the United Way of West Central Mississippi office on Thursday and by Friday morning, a central location to bring donations was secured at the Vicksburg Mall.

“I must say that I am always amazed by the generosity of our community. I truly believe that our community is blessed beyond words with individuals who are passionate about doing God’s work,” said United Way executive director Michele Connelly.

And we could not agree more.

We encourage you that if you can to please donate  or volunteer in the effort to help the people of Texas  who have bene impacted. Their road to recovery will be a long one and hopefull with the help of people like those in our community, it will be less painful in the days, months and years a head.
