Bessie Jane Schnetzler Childers

Bessie Jane Schnetzler Childers, 93, passed away at River Region Medical Center Aug. 9, 2017.
She was a resident of The Bluffs Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Bessie was born in Vicksburg and lived most of her life on Warriors Trail in Warren County. Later in life, she resided in Biloxi for several years before returning to Vicksburg.
She was the daughter of Andrew George Schnetzler and Dollie Ingram Schnetzler Barnes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepfather, C.J. Barnes; three brothers, George, Jimmy and John; two sisters, Lorraine Yakel and Mattie Lee Gray; her husband of 30 years, Graham Childers; and a son, Pat Childers.
Bessie was a lifelong Southern Baptist, being an active member of Calvary Baptist Church through her childhood and well into her adult life. In later years, she attended Bovina Baptist Church.
She was a homemaker and beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt. She served for a time as a rural letter carrier in Warren County and for many years as a licensed practical nurse in Vicksburg and Jackson.
Bessie is survived by her daughter, Barbara Childers of Portland, Ore.; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Paula Childers of Hernando; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends whose lives she touched through the years. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew her.
The Rev. Brian Parker will be officiating the service under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. on Sept. 8, 2017, at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.
