Salvation Army Auxiliary to honor first responders with breakfast

Vicksburg and Warren County’s first responders will be honored Monday by the Salvation Army Auxiliary at its fifth annual 9/11 breakfast at the Citadel, the Salvation Army Headquarters, 530 Mission 66.

The breakfast is from 7 to 10:30 a.m., Auxiliary president Trudy James-Brown said.

“One of our volunteers, Barbara Copeland, came up with the idea five years ago of honoring our emergency responders and showing them how much we appreciate them,” she said. “We will be providing breakfast for firefighters, emergency medical workers, 911 dispatchers police officers, sheriff’s deputies and emergency management workers.

“It gives us a chance to sit down and talk with them and tell them personally how much we appreciate the things that they do to keep us safe,” James-Brown said.
