Tallulah Academy loses to Prentiss

For the first time since joining the MAIS eight-man football division, Tallulah Academy is on a losing streak.
The Trojans scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to wipe out a 13-point deficit, but missed a go-ahead two-point conversion following the second one and lost 27-26 to Prentiss Christian on Friday night.
The two-time defending eight-man champs lost their second game in a row. It’s the first time that has happened since they started playing eight-man in 2014.
Joshua Collins rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns for Tallulah (3-2, 1-1 District E-2), and Parker Kivett was passed for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Wade Watkins scored two touchdowns for Prentiss Christian (4-0, 2-0), which led 27-14 heading into the fourth quarter before Tallulah started its comeback.
Briarfield 62, Rebul 14
Grayson Parker ran for 95 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also had a receiving touchdown as Briarfield Academy pummeled Rebul Academy 62-14 on Friday night in an MAIS eight-man football game.
Christian Herrington also rushed for two touchdowns for Briarfield (3-1, 1-0 District E-2), while Holt Martin had one.
Kyle Moody had three tackles on defense and returned an interception for a touchdown. Briarfield will host Tallulah Academy next Friday at 7 p.m.
Pearl 14, Madison Central 7
Jaylon Stovall rushed for a touchdown, and Tylan Knight returned a fumble for another score to lead No. 1 Pearl to a 14-7 win over No. 3 Madison Central on Friday night in a showdown between two of the top five teams in MHSAA Class 6A.
Pearl (4-0) forced four turnovers to win the defensive battled with Madison Central (3-1) despite having only 43 yards of total offense. An interception set up Stovall’s 4-yard run, and Knight’s 60-yard fumble return made it 14-0 in the third quarter.
Cam White scored Madison Central’s only touchdown on a 49-yard run later in the third quarter.
