Raymond L. Scallions

Raymond L. Scallions died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at Merit Health River Region. He was 91.
A native of Charleston, he had made his home in Vicksburg since 1953. He was the owner and operator of Scallion’s used cars, and was also a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.
He attended the Church of God of Prophecy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Lee and Ida Gentry Scallions; his wife, Beatrice Scallions; two brothers, Stanley Scallions and James H. Scallions; two sisters, Deserie Edwards and Shirley Italiano; a grandson, David Scallions and a great-grandson, Hunter Rogers.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah S. Cummings ; three sons, Raymond (Diane) Scallions, Michael Scallions and Darrell Scallions, all of Vicksburg; his brother, Leslie (June) Scallions of Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Cresswell officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, and again at 11 a.m. Saturday until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be James Ford, Harry Ford, Larry Ford, Daniel Eaves, Jerry Edwards, Chris Scallions and Charles Tomlin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Scallions, Corbin Rogers, Pat Scallions, Mason Cummings, Kurt Tippen, Blake Scallions, Charlie Cummings, John Phillip Hart and Jimmie Hart.
