Downtown Vicksburg will be full of activity for the next three weeks as a variety of events take place in the Red Carpet City.

The action packed calendar kicks off tomorrow with the United Way’s True Color run and an antique motorcycle show at the farmers’ market lot, at the intersection of Jackson and Washington streets.

The True Color run will have a different starting and ending location than the last two years. Due to a scheduling conflict, the run will start and end in the BankcorpSouth parking lot on South Street. The race will start at 8 a.m.

Following the race, a block party celebrating the official beginning of the United Way of West Central Mississippi’s annual campaign will be held in the parking lot.

The motorcycle show will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature pre-1990 motorcycles.

The following Saturday, Sept. 30, Bricks and Spokes takes place with more than a 100 cyclists expected to converge on downtown Vicksburg. Vicksburg Main Street is partnering with Bike Your Park this year to design the routes for the ride and some will include the chance to ride through the Vicksburg National Military Park after crossing back over the Old Mississippi River Bridge from Louisiana.

Cyclists will have four options, and can take part in rides of 10, 30, 50 or 62 miles.

The first weekend of October, Fall Fest and the Old Courthouse Flea Market will take place throughout most of the day in downtown.

The flea market is held twice a year, in the spring and the fall, and averages more than 2,000 visitors who tour the booths that cover both sides of Cherry, Jackson and Monroe streets featuring arts and crafts and food items. Last year’s fall market drew 4,000 people.

Fall Fest will feature three bands performing from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as well as kids activities, a performance by the comedic circus act Skins and Bones, the trackless train running up and down Washington Street, a display by the Natural Science Museum from Jackson and a merchant sidewalk sale. There will also be antique tractors on display at the farmers’ market lot.

With fall temperatures expected to arrive soon, it is a great opportunity to experience all downtown has to offer through this wide range of  events that offer fun for the entire family.
