Clear Creek Ladies report

On Wednesday, Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association members played their annual club championship. Linda McHann took top honors, with Carol Roberson placing second in Flight A. McHann also scored the lowest in putting and won low net score. Roberson hit the longest drive and won the closest-to-pin award.

In Flight B, Connie Kegerreis logged the best score, with Emily Bonelli placing second. Kegerreis logged the lowest putting score and won the closest-to-pin award. Bonelli hit the longest drive and won low net score.

In Flight C, Mary May won first place with Charlotte Crist placing second. May logged the lowest putting score as well as winning the closest-to-pin award. Crist hit the flight’s longest drive and won low net score. Bonelli hit the most accurate drive for the entire field.

VHS archery tryouts

Tryouts for Vicksburg High School’s archery team will be held Oct. 4 and 5, from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in the JROTC building. All archers must have completed a physical in order to try out.

Over the River Run

Registration is now open for the 29th annual Over the River Run, a 5-mile run and race walk across the Old Mississippi River Bridge.

This year’s race is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14 at 8 a.m. at the Mississippi Welcome Center on Washington Street. A 1-mile children’s fun run will follow the 5-mile events.

The entry fee for the race is $25 for the 5-mile run and walk, or $15 for children 10 and under. There is also a family rate of $75 for up to five family members living at the same address. The registration fees will go up to $35 and $25 on race day. The entry fees include admission to the postrace party at Ameristar’s Delta Point parking lot on Washington Street.

All proceeds from the race benefit The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation.

Hinds CC golf tourney

Hinds Community College’s Warren-Claiborne County Alumni Chapter will host the Clyde Donnell and Othel Mendrop Memorial Golf Tournament Oct. 18 at Clear Creek Golf Course in Bovina.

The tournament is a four-person scramble, and will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration begins at 12:30. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team, as well as for closest to the hole and longest drive.

The registration fee is $75 per player and includes green fee, cart, hamburger dinner and refreshments. Hole sponsorships are available for $100, and team sponsorships for $300.
