Clinton has long been a nemesis for Warren Central’s softball team during the spring fast-pitch season, but the Lady Vikes got a healthy dose of revenge during the fall slow-pitch season.

Warren Central swept a doubleheader from Clinton on Tuesday, 11-1 and 14-4, to clinch the Region 6, Class III championship.

Kelsey Lockridge went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs in the first game, an 11-1 victory for WC. Kaylee Hoeft doubled, drove in two runs and scored two more, while Madison Wade was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Warren Central scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and won in five via the mercy rule.

Game two was more of the same, as the Lady Vikes (8-2) scored in five of the six innings played to win 14-4.
April Lynn hit a three-run homer in the first inning, and both she and Lockridge finished with four RBIs. Dominique Caldwell went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, while Kaitlyn Mitchell doubled and scored three times.

Warren Central will play at Vicksburg Thursday at 6:15 p.m., and then finishes the regular season with road games next week at Northwest Rankin and Riverside.

The Lady Vikes will host the fourth-place team from Region 8, which includes a number of Coast teams, in the first round of the Class III playoffs on Oct. 7.
