St. Aloysius’ run in the MAIS Class AAA girls’ soccer playoffs got off to a good start. Now it just needs to solve an opponent that has had its number this season.

Mary Ranager scored four goals and assisted on two others to lead St. Al to a 7-0 win over Cathedral in a first-round game Tuesday.

Madelyn Polk had the Lady Flashes’ other three goals, as well as two assists. Ann Elizabeth Farthing also contributed two assists and Meg McDaniel had one.

With the win, St. Al advanced to play Park Place at 3 p.m. Thursday in Pearl.

Park Place won both of its regular-season meetings with St. Al, 4-0 and 4-1, to claim the District 3-AAA championship.
