Clear Creek Ladies report

On Wednesday the Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association hosted its final Retirees Scramble of the season. First-place winners were Theresa Ford, Del Cox, Mike Renfroe and Wayne Scott. Second place went to Joyce

Johnson, Larry Cook, James Cruthirds and Brad Heisler. Third place winners were Linda McHann, Wayne Jones, Frank McGowan and Ron Pownall.

Joyce Johnson and Wayne Jones hit the day’s longest drives. Closest-to-pin awards went to Theresa Ford, Judy McKnight, Rodney McHann and Ron Pownall. Pownall, Mike Renfroe and Richard Taylor made chip-ins.

Red Carpet Bowl golf

The inaugural Red Carpet Bowl 3-Man Invitational golf tournament is scheduled for Oct. 14-15 at Vicksburg Country Club. The tournament is a three-man scramble that will offer cash prizes of $1,000 for first place, $800 for second place, and $600 for third place in each flight.

There will be a Calcutta party on Oct. 14, as well as special contests during the tournament. The event will begin with a shotgun start at noon on Oct. 14 and 10 a.m. on Oct. 15.

The entry fee is $120 per player and includes a practice round. All proceeds benefit the Red Carpet Bowl scholarship fund. To register, call the Vicksburg Country Club golf shop at 601-636-8581 or email patrick@vicksburgcc.com.

In addition to the golf tournament, the Red Carpet Bowl committee is sponsoring a raffle for four tickets to the New Orleans Saints’ home game on Dec. 24 against the Atlanta Falcons. Tickets for the raffle are $20, and can be purchased at Cannon Toyota or Helping Hands Pharmacy.

Over the River Run

Registration is open for the 29th annual Over the River Run, a 5-mile run and race walk across the Old Mississippi River Bridge scheduled for Oct. 14 at 8 a.m. at the Mississippi Welcome Center on Washington Street. A 1-mile children’s fun run will follow the 5-mile events.

The entry fee fis $25 for the 5-mile run and walk, or $15 for children 10 and under. The registration fees will go up to $35 and $25 on race day. All proceeds from the race benefit The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation.

Hinds CC golf tourney

Hinds Community College’s Warren-Claiborne County Alumni Chapter will host the Clyde Donnell and Othel Mendrop Memorial Golf Tournament Oct. 18 at Clear Creek Golf Course in Bovina.

The tournament is a four-person scramble, and will begin at 1 p.m. Registration begins at 12:30. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team, as well as for closest to the hole and longest drive.

The registration fee is $75 per player and includes cart, dinner and refreshments. Hole sponsorships are available for $100, and team sponsorships for $300.
