Spooky Sprint 5K

The Spooky Sprint 5K and Halloween Carnival is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28 in downtown Vicksburg. The event will begin at 8 a.m. at Bancorp South, 820 South Street, and runners and walkers are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. The registration fee is $35 for the 5K, or $20 for the 1-mile fun run.

Pre-race packet pick up and late registration will be open from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the St. Francis Xavier Elementary School main office, or Oct. 28 from 6:45 to 7:30 a.m. at Bancorp South.

Hinds CC golf tourney

Hinds Community College’s Warren-Claiborne County Alumni Chapter will host the Clyde Donnell and Othel Mendrop Memorial Golf Tournament Oct. 18 at Clear Creek Golf Course in Bovina.

The tournament is a four-person scramble, and will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration begins at 12:30. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team, as well as for closest to the hole and longest drive.

The registration fee is $75 per player and includes green fee, cart, hamburger dinner and refreshments. Hole sponsorships are available for $100, and team sponsorships for $300.

Disc Hoops exhibition

The Vicksburg Warriors will host an exhibition showcasing the sport of disc hoops — a combination of basketball and ultimate frisbee — at the Purks YMCA Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. There is no charge to participate.

Teams for the four-on-four games will be formed on site and can be same or mixed gender. Substitutes are also allowed.
