Belden-Douglas “Doug” G. Stroud

TUPELO — Belden-Douglas “Doug” G. Stroud, 90, passed away Oct. 28, 2017, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo.

He was born on May 20, 1927, in Lake to the late Druie and Floy Stroud.

He will be remembered by many as an Army veteran, lab technician, tire business owner, auto parts supply business owner, landlord, life deacon at First Baptist Church of Vicksburg, hunter, fisherman, and golfer.

He was an active member at Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo for the past six years. He and Mimi loved to travel. They drove to 48 of the 50 states.

Doug Stroud or “Pa” as his family calls him, would love to be remembered as a lover of Jesus, who built his legacy on daily prayer and Bible study.

His family will remember his faithfulness, integrity, consistency, humbleness, generosity and how he taught us to live and finish strong.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at Holland Funeral Directors with the Rev. Jim Yates officiating.

Visitation will be from noon to service time only at Holland Funeral Directors Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends.

Survivors include his wife, Mary McKay Stroud. They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this Dec. 31. He is also survived by his four daughters, Pam Wilburn, Pat Cooper (Mark), Cheryl Turner (Tee), and Judy Sewell (Jeff); seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eva McNeal and Hazel Chapman.
